Ready for Summer...
I don't know about the rest of you, but it has been quite a long winter here in New York. I feel like we're still waiting for the hint that summer may be coming. It almost doesn't fell like the end of the school year! My family has been keeping me busy with birthdays, confirmations, graduations, recitals, and all of the end of the year celebrations, events, and anything else I may be forgetting at the moment. This year is definitely more than other years, but I think I say that every year. Then again, I like being able to enjoy those things with my kids! I definitely wouldn't have it any other way. Well, maybe if the weather would cooperate and warm-up and dry out.
I've been daydreaming about summers (or summer vacations) when I didn't have to worry about anything except having fun. I guess you could say summers like in my first book, "The Unforgettable Summer". Of course there's the summers when you're young and carefree, like when Bree started spending summers with her Grandmother. She thought that was the year her summers started to be fun again. "I loved being with my grandmother. We would sit out on the porch at night looking out at the lake, calm from any of the day’s activities. She would make her iced tea and she would tell me the best stories. The stories about when she was young or about when she met my grandfather were always my favorites. During the day, she would take me canoeing, hiking or swimming. We would make all our meals together and go into town shopping at the Farmers Market on Saturdays for fresh fruits and vegetables." Then of course there's the summer when Bree met Christian. The summer she'll never forget on a lake in Maine, much like the one pictured above. Do you have a favorite summer spot or summer memory? I guess at this point, I'd settle for some sunshine! Hopefully warm thoughts will help!
